Pernilla Jansson: Fringe on a Bulb

Pernilla Jansson: Fringe on a Bulb

A radical light bulb decoration is a result of playful research of light and its effects, of a purified minimalistic form and artistic approach, characteristic of Swedish artists. The strings, originally intended for decorating textiles, were used for clothing and decorating light bulbs.

Pernilla Jansson holds a master’s degree from University of Arts and Crafts in Stockholm. She specializes in lighting installations and ceramic objects, which she uses to re-interpret everyday’s life. Her works that provoke either astonishment or amusement have been exhibited in Sweden, Germany, Italy and Finland; articles about her creativity have been published in various European design magazines.

On the festival, she will also participate with a macramé lamp with a lampshade made out of power cord whose knot-pattern and size can be reshaped. From the power cord, wrapped in textile, the artist created yet another knotted up lamp – the Knitted Lamp – which premiers on the Lighting Guerrilla festival. The Vžigalica gallery will exhibit the Ex Globe, her deformed classical round shaped lamp.

The installation will be open from July 18th 2009; Tuesday – Sunday, from 12:00 – 20:00
